Walked from Ludlow Street to Washington Square Park to meet a friend at Jane’s. But even after the 45 minute wait we were told there would be another ten minutes of waiting. Then we found a cute place called Sullivan’s and had early lunch / brunch there. Because of construction and the long Labour Day weekend, there’s work going on on the Subway and the F line wasn’t working, due to which we ended up wrongly getting out at Lexington Avenue and accidentally ended up at Sprinkle’s Cupcakes! One salted caramel cupcake later, we found the subway station that would take us closer to Ludlow. From Canal Street, we walked through ChinaTown and took some phtoos of each other in front of graffiti walls.
I was so busy chatting that after swiping my Metro Card, I did not notice the “Go” sign and thought the turnstile would turn on its own ( you’re supposed to push it with your body weight ). Then I swiped the card again. And again. And again. Till I noticed the error message, “Already been used”. It is illegal to use the Metro Card for multiple swipes – otherwise many people could use the same card to swipe. It is a 30 day unlimited card. Luckily the emergency exit door was open and I was let through š I’ve been more alert to the subway signs since then – and have gotten better at swiping the card.
To the random street stranger who commented on my “tube” socks, “Tube socks?! Honestly?!” : Thanks! I feel right at home now! Yay!
