While in New York, most of the restaurants we ended up eating at were places we’d stumbled upon. We’d be walking to some #NYFW show or walking away from one and we’d register hunger and the keep our eyes peeled for restaurants and whichever one looked most appealing would be where we would plonk out butts. We came across Laduree the same way. You should’ve seen the way I was beaming with my entire body the moment I spotted the branding! I’ve been to Paris but it was a very short trip and no time to look for a Maison Laduree joint there so finding one in NYC was a sign.
Macarons and other sweet things lined the walls as you enter the space. The decor is beautifully French although at some places walls were faintly stained – I’m guessing it might be time for renovation soon. There is an open space at the back – a pretty garden and it was overflowing with other stragglers from New York Fashion Week. The rooms inside were mostly empty – Akanksha and I were hot so we decided to sit indoor in the air-conditioning. Service was slow but friendly. Handsome guy stopped over at our table a couple of times to interrupt our “take photos of everything” and bent into my camera’s lens and asked aloud when it would be his turn to get photographed. Akanksha and I giggled. NYC people had been friendly and we weren’t surprised someone had just stopped by our table. One of the senior staff later came over to us to tell us that that guy was the CEO of Maison Laduree in America Pierre-Antoine Raberin. HAH.
So obviously we had to get a photo of him and then a selfie with him before we left!
There are two Ladurees in NYC : LADURÉE SOHO, 398 West Broadway, 10012 New York and LADURÉE MADISON, 864 Madison Avenue, 10021 New York
